Terms of service
The rules for using dummyrun.dev, the free scan and the paid services.
Last updated: 20 October 2026.
Who we are
Dummy Run is the trading name of Joel Merrick, a sole trader in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). Write to [email protected] for anything general. Write to [email protected] about personal data and to [email protected] to report abuse.
What these terms cover
These terms cover dummyrun.dev, the waitlist, the free scan and the paid services on our pricing page. They do not cover the open-source engine. The engine is under the Apache-2.0 licence and that licence covers your use of the code. Audits also follow their order form.
Paid services and Paddle
Paid services are sold through Paddle.com as merchant of record. Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the purchase. Paddle handles payment, tax and refunds. Our refund policy sets out when you can have a refund.
The free scan
The free scan loads public pages of a site you give us. It only reads. It does not log in, submit forms or change anything. It takes a sample of pages and may stop early. The scanner will identify itself as DummyRun and honour robots.txt.
Results are for information. They are not an audit. They are not a certification or a statement that a site meets WCAG or any law. A clean result does not mean a site is accessible. A finding may be wrong.
Your use
You may ask for scans of public pages only. Do not use the scan to harass anyone or overload a site. Do not try to get round our limits or the read-only rule. If you use the scan for a site that is not yours you must have a good reason to do so and must be able to accept that its owner can object.
We may refuse, rate limit or stop any scan at any time. We may remove access if you break these terms.
Site owners
If you own a site and do not want it scanned, write to [email protected] with the address. We will stop scanning it and block further requests.
No warranty
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available or error free or that results are complete or right. We do not exclude anything the law does not let us exclude.
Liability
We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable or for loss of profit, data or business. Our total liability to you for anything connected to the free service is limited to £100. For a paid service it is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Nothing limits your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Your data
How we use personal data is in our privacy policy at dummyrun.dev/privacy/.
Changes
We may change these terms. The new version applies from the date shown at the top. If you keep using the service after that you accept it. For a change that matters we will say so on the site.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also use the courts there.
